New Media

This lecture was about new media, and how older films inspired the new.
Newer technology doesn't necessarily mean you produce better films, although visual effects and CGI has improved significantly the older techniques are still used now. new films often make references to older films to get inspired. Pixar still refer to the fundamentals of traditionally drawn animation by Walt Disney, Pixar recreated motion blur within CGI because it added exaggerated movement to characters that made characters seem more traditional. Pixar recently released a short film attached to Toy Story 3 called Day & Night which is a traditional animated short infused with 3D in an interesting way using the new phenomenon of using 3D spectacles, this is a new exciting way to see depth and it goes to show that new technology can be interesting.
